We would like to share the latest developments and events with you in our little summer greeting.
“Between Wine and Coffee”, Darijus publishes his first book
Holding your own book in your hands is an indescribable feeling. For our protégé Darijus, this dream has come true.
Darijus spent his childhood from the age of three in the Marijampole children’s home. Like all the other children in the home, we sponsored him there. Darijus has older siblings, but they did not grow up in Marijampole. At the age of eighteen, he made the courageous decision to go to Norway. There he began studying art and design. He earns his living as a barista.
Now twenty-one years old, he discovered his gift for writing at an early age. He wrote down what moved him, penning poems and short stories.
Now he has written his first book. This book, entitled “Between Wine and Coffee”, is about the story of two people searching for themselves, the courage to go new ways and to find answers, hope and love with deep trust in God. The result is a book that is gripping right from the start, which also includes a love story and the uncovering of exciting secrets.
It was a matter close to Ingrid and Otmar’s hearts to provide Darijus with help and advice for the publication of his book and to support him both organizationally and financially from their own resources. Many thanks for this. The book was published, printed and marketed in English and Lithuanian using Amazon’s publishing service. We would be delighted if you could also order a copy. Sponsorship trip from 28 to 31.8.2025 and 10 years of PATRIA
Ingrid, Simone and Otmar will be traveling to Lithuania again this year to spend a weekend with the young people. There is great anticipation on both sides. In addition to the planned workshops, there will again be plenty of time for informal discussions. A special highlight this year will be the 10th anniversary of our Patria program. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you. We have developed and built up this programme in close partnership with the PATRIA organization and have looked after hundreds of adolescent and young adult orphans over these 10 years and accompanied them on their way to an independent adult life. To mark this anniversary, there will be a big party with the young people, alumni and the PATRIA team during the camp on Saturday evening. We will report on this in our next newsletter.
